Many a times in life we feel sad, depressed and dejected. Have you ever thought why is it so? Most people will give the reason of either blaming it onto others or blaming it onto the circumstances. It is just a way of running away from the reality. If we look deeply into it and analyze, who is responsible for all our actions. It is “We – Ourselves”. We lead our own life and no one else. We are the ones who take the decisions for ourselves. Our decisions are the cause of our happiness or sadness. These decisions become our experiences of life. If the experience is good, we call it a good decision and if the experience is not so good, we call it a bad decision. But then, you cannot stop taking decisions. At every step of life, you have to decide - one path or the other or the other.
The decisions are always taken according to the circumstances prevailing. One decision might be right today, but tomorrow you may feel that you have made a mistake. Don’t regret. It was the right thing to do at that point in time. Circumstances will change with time and you need to move on forgetting about the decisions you took yesterday and learning from the experience it gave you - good or bad. In new circumstances you need to take new decisions and have new experiences. These series of experiences is called “Life”. If you regret what you did in the past, you are making your current experience sad, and that is again your decision. To live happily, decide to be happy.
Everybody has their own set of experiences which makes them grow in life. Never compare your life with others. You may think that someone is leading a better life than yours. It is not true or to put it more precisely, it is not completely true. There are ups and downs in everyone’s life. You see only good things in their lives because they have decided to live that way. They don’t let their negatives overcome their positives. It doesn’t mean that they experience only joys in life. If you actually live someone else’s life, you have to go through the negative aspects as well along with their positive ones. Life is not a bed of roses only, there are thorns in it as well. To live life fully and happily, accept the thorns as you accept the roses.
Nature gives you situations in life, but how you deal with those situations, depends entirely onto you. This is where your decision-making ability comes in power. You have to decide a path, which you feel is right to deal with the situation smoothly. There could be numerous ways to tackle a situation, but you have to choose only one - not the right one, but the one which you feel is the best for you. There is no "one" right choice, but one is definitely better than the others. Two people facing the same situation might take two entirely separate paths to handle it and both experience happiness. On the other hand, if they both follow the same path, one might be happy and the other might not be so happy. This is because they are leading separate lives, their pasts are different and so are their future goals. Both will take decision for a situation taking into consideration various factors. Their situation today might be same, but the ‘factors’ might not be. So two different decisions become equally good for two different people.
With passing of time and with experiencing things in life, you gain maturity. Some people mature early in life than others because they experience more in less time. They were faced with more situations in life and they had to decide a route for every situation. More situations leads to more decisions, thus having more experiences and more learnings.
You lead your life the way you want to lead it. Its your life and it has been gifted to you. Look ahead and move on as you want it. Also, take accountability for your decisions and actions. Take credit for all your happiness and blame yourself for your downfalls. You have to pull your own life strings. There will be people giving you advices. Don’t just accept them or discard them. Analyze their views and then come to a conclusion. Ultimately what matters is your decision as it is the one which will pave your path of life on which you will walk.
